scrying
to scry
An ancient form of obtaining a vision, especially of a face of someone significant, in which the scryer gazes into a magic mirror or crystal ball by candlelight at night, or into a reflective object such as a boul of water, or a pond of water especially under a full moon. In fact, anything reflective can be used. Nostradamus used a bowl of water.
